Gender-affirming care in NJ faces uncertain future
The way Dr. Jonathan Keith sees it, this is a turbulent time for transgender people scheduling transition surgery – to put it mildly. “The state of the affairs for my patients and beyond is absolute panic and terror,” he said.
Keith practices with East Coast Advanced Plastic Surgery in New Jersey and said he has helped thousands of people transition. But he said some of his current patients may have to wait to schedule surgeries after the latest round of executive orders from the Trump administration, which essentially include a ban on gender-affirming care for people who are 18 years old or younger.
Sam Holovacs, a 21-year-old art student who graduated from Sparta High School, said gender-affirming care helped him enormously.
